Athletics Coach Jimmy Mathlin has been charged by police in Gouyave, St. John’s with maiming Mathlin, a 51-year old school teacher and a coach attached to Speed Zone Sports Club of Gouyave, is accused of causing injuries to his 25-year old fiancée, Christel Marshall of Edward Street in Gouyave, St. John’s.
A source told The New Today Newspaper that Mathlin allegedly assaulted Marshall shortly after returning home on Boxing Day from attending a function. The source said Mathlin who teaches at the Happy Hill Secondary School took a piece of iron and allegedly beat his unemployed girlfriend all over her body.
It is alleged that the school teacher/coach also cuffed Marshall in the area of her left eye causing it to burst. The source said police have also brought a charge of causing harm on Marshall. This newspaper learnt that the unemployed woman, in relation to the alleged beating she received at the hands of Mathlin who resides at New Street, Gouyave, retaliated by also harming her attacker.
