The man convicted for causing the death of Keldon Kelly Simeon has been sentenced to seven years in prison. Brendon Briggs who was originally charged by the police with murder, but accepted a manslaughter bargain that was offered by the State was sentenced on Monday by Madam Justice Clare Henry.
He pleaded guilty to the lesser offense of killing Simeon, alias 9-inch on April 4, 2010. Both Briggs and Simeon who was the former leader of “The Bloods” were engaged in an altercation in the vicinity of the Sugar Mill Roundabout when he received the deadly stab wound. The incident between Briggs and the 31-year old Simeon from Grand Anse arose out of a dispute the convicted man had over the use of his car.
