Operations of the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) are expected to be enhanced with the supply of some emergency equipment that was presented by one of Grenada’s business outlet.
A gift of ten revolving lights and ten sirens costing $20,000.00 was handed over Tuesday to Commissioner of Police, Willan Thompson by the Grenada branch of New York Finest Bagels.
Owner of the business outlet, Haji Mohammad Asghar encouraged RGPF to make good use of the equipment now at their disposal so that the General Public can feel confident
New York Finest Bagels has been operating in Grenada for just over two years and Asghar said during those years his operations have been incident-free of unpleasantries. “Grenada is and continues to be one of the safest places in the world to conduct business”, he remarked.
The businessman also believes the local police force continues to do everything in its power, with limited resources, to protect and serve the residents on the island. He noted that the care and attention, which the police have extended to his business operations, have not gone unnoticed.
“We would like to thank the Royal Grenada Police Force and to encourage them to continue working hard, not only in Grand Anse, but throughout Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique in ensuring the... State remains safe and beautiful”, he said.
“There will be odd occasions, you must continue to ensure that your responsibility as police officials are carried out,” he added. According to Asghar, the package is intended to ensure that the police can better identify their vehicles from against others that appear to be of a similar nature and this is the beginning of gifts that he would be providing to RGPF.
The businessman hinted that he is already making preparation to deliver two patrol cars for the South of the island. Commissioner Thompson spoke of being grateful for the gifts and pledged the RGPF’s commitment in working with every corporate citizen.
He described Asghar as a very good corporate citizen, one whom he said has been actively involved in the community of Grand Anse, St. George’s where he resides. Asghar is a member of the Citizen Advisory Body in Grand Anse, and has played an instrumental role in the work that was done on the Grand Anse Hard Court last year.
“There we see a corporate citizen really at work, and... the RGPF is very pleased to be able to receive from Mr. Haji and his business house ten revolving lights and ten sirens that I can assure you will go immediately into use,” Commissioner Thompson said.
