Grenada is likely to see the emergence of a female as its Head of State.
An authoritative source told THE NEW TODAY Newspaper, there are strong indications that the current holder of the post, Sir Carlyle Glean will soon step down from the post.
The source who spoke on condition of not being identified said the matter was discussed during a recent executive meeting of the governing New National Party (NNP) of Dr. Mitchell. The source said Political Leader and Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell told the meeting he is currently courting a female who operates a business on the outskirt of St. George’s to take up the job as the Queen’s Representative in Grenada.
This newspaper learnt that the female individual being identified allegedly frequented Dr. Mitchell’s house at Happy Hill during the recent campaign. The name being banded about in the country was once associated with the Public Service Commission (PSC).
Dr. Mitchell hinted to local reporters about two weeks ago that they might not be wrong in their assumption that a female could become the next Governor-General. Sir Carlyle who served as former Education Minister was appointed as Governor General four years ago shortly after the National Democratic Congress Government took Office in 2008 to replace Sir Daniel Williams.
