Suspicious Fire in La Borie

Arson is suspected in an early morning fire last Monday at La Borie in St. George’s. Informed sources told THE NEW TODAY that one man from Hope Vale has been detained for questioning by the lawmen.

A police report said that the lawmen were investigating the fire which completely destroyed a 20x20 feet wooden structured house around 04:30 a.m. at La Borie. The house was owned by Samuel Charles who sustained minor injuries and left him with an estimated loss of about twenty-thousand dollars.

According to the police report, a man was seen running from the scene of the fire. “He is described as about 6 feet in height, wearing a long blue jean pants, black t-shirt, light brown in complexion and sporting a kinky hairstyle.

“Anyone with information or who may have seen or know the person running away from the scene of the fire is asked to contact the St. Paul’s Police Station on 440 3224, CID at 440 3921, Police Emergency at 911, Crime stoppers at 444 1958 or the nearest police station.

Residents in the area told the NEW TODAY newspaper that about three previous attempts were allegedly made to burn Charles’ home.
