A group of young boys from Woburn, St. George’s are in trouble with the law. The boys whose ages range between 11 and 17 years are facing charges of stealing, and housebreaking and stealing on three different occasions. They are accused of first committing the crime between June 11 and 15.
However, it was not until two months later when they allegedly committed the third offence of stealing that the police were able to catch up with the youngsters. A well-placed source told The New Today newspaper the Woburn youngsters reportedly broke into the home of attorney-at-law, Nigel Stewart at Marian, St. George’s on August 27 and took away a number of articles including a gun.
The source who asked not to be named said the group of young boys were seen committing the act by a neighbour. They are accused of taking away groceries, jewelry, cologne, a laptop computer, in addition to the gun that was recovered by the police.
Three of the boys including the 11-year old are accused of stealing from a vessel, articles valued at EC $6,159.69, the property of Normarel Lemorre, a 67 year-old retired citizen of Canada. The source said the youngsters took a boat and traveled to Hog Island where the vessel was berthed.
Two of the three boys with the exception of the 11-year old are also jointly charged with another 14-year old for the offences of housebreaking and stealing articles and cash valued at EC $20,411.00.
They are also accused of robbing Kelvin Jacob, a 40 year-old manager from Woburn of money from a cash pan amounting to $1,500.00, three laptop computers, two ipods, and groceries. All four accused, one 11 year-old, two 14 year-old, and one 17-year old are currently on bail in the sum of $8,000.00 with one surety each.
They are due to appear in court on September 29 when the Juvenile Court sits.
Meanwhile, police are investigating a stealing incident at the Office of the Opposition Leader on Scott Street, St. George’s that took place last week Monday in which a number of articles mainly feminine items were taken away.
A source told The New Today Newspaper that the Office Attendant, Juliet St. Louis had been away from the office for about just under two hours when the incident took place.
The source who could not say how the intruder or intruders got into the office said one packet of Kotex panty liners, one packet of Kotex teens sanitary pads, one packet of Stayfree maxi sanitary pads, one Bop insecticide, and four bottles of disinfectants were taken away from the building.
The stealing incident came at a time when Opposition Leader Dr. Keith Mitchell was away on a North American trip that began in the month of August.
Dr. Mitchell has since returned to the island.
