Arson is suspected in an early morning fire last Monday at La Borie in St. George’s. Informed sources told THE NEW TODAY that one man from Hope Vale has been detained for questioning by the lawmen.

A group of young boys from Woburn, St. George’s are in trouble with the law. The boys whose ages range between 11 and 17 years are facing charges of stealing, and housebreaking and stealing on three different occasions. They are accused of first committing the crime between June 11 and 15.

The multi-million dollar Greater Grenville Development Project is beginning to show signs of progress with the sod turning ceremony last Friday of another component of the long awaited project. Prime Minister Tillman Thomas and his Works Minister, Joseph Gilbert turned the sod to signal the commencement of work for the $15.6m Grenville Market Square Development Project which was initiated by the former administration.

THE NEW TODAY has been able to lay its hands on a confidential memo that was sent to the powers-that-be in Washington by local U.S embassy officials on the performance of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of Prime Minister Tillman Thomas after only one year in office. The memo was part of the Wikileak bundle that was leaked to a journalist in the UK by an “informant” working with the U.S government.

Prison authorities in Grenada are rather tight-lipped about a reported stabbing incident within the institution in recent days. THE NEW TODAY has been reliably informed that long-standing inmate, Stalin Bruno of Woburn, St. George’s has delivered an almost fatal stabbing wound to another inmate at the Richmond Hill prison. Known as the one-hand bandit, the highly dangerous Stalin is feared in the country especially by women since he has been convicted in the past for rape.
