A goat-rearing project, which was launched by the Division of Agriculture in the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs in 2009, is currently reaping success.

 According to a release from the Ministry of Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs, farmers are now benefitting from the project which involved the construction of three goat pens and the introduction of hybrid goats.

Despite breaking ties with Taiwan in favour of Mainland China, the former Keith Mitchell-led New National Party (NNP) government did not take too kindly to the assistance allegedly given by Beijing to its arch rival, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2008 general elections.

 According to wikileaks documents otained by THE NEW TODAY newspaper, NNP officials had complained to US Charge D’affaires, Karen Jo McIsaac that the Chinese gave NDC more cash than it gave to them to contest the poll.

Grenada’s Prime Minister Tillman Thomas has announced a recognition and reward package for the island’s international athletes, World 400M Champion, Kirani James, 400M specialist Rondell Bartholomew, and Janelle Redhead, who all had world class performances in Daegu, South Korea, last month.

 In a nationally televised address last Thursday, the Prime Minister also indicated that former world indoor 400 metre runner, Alleyne Francique will also benefit from the reward package.

The Grenada Electricity Services Limited (Grenlec) is forging ahead with plans to get involved in renewable energy technology.

 Speaking at a function last week Wednesday at the company’s Corporate Office at Dusty Highway, Chief Engineer Clive Hosten said while Grenlec urges its customers to manage their energy usage and conserve electricity, it has also made significant progress in preparing for renewable energy technology for the country.

Retired High Court Judge, Justice Lyle St. Paul is concerned about the preservation of the remains of York House on Church Street, St. George’s.

 Justice St. Paul who has been recalled to assist with the criminal assizes for the 11th time since his retirement in 2002 told the opening ceremony of the October Criminal Assizes last Tuesday he believes that in time to come, the remnants of the building will fall if it is not protected.

 According to him, the building was not constructed with cement and steel rods but with white lime and stones.

Several passengers onboard a red Toyota bus, HG746, were rushed to the General Hospital Wednesday morning after the bus overturned.

Lawyers for Taiwan attempt to seize the Grenada Embassy Building in Washington DC

Taiwan has embarked upon a series of punitive actions against Grenada in order to recover close to EC$76 million dollars owed to the Far-east country following the non-payment of a set of loans contracted by the former New National Party (NNP) government of ex-Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Mitchell.

 It is the only way THE NEW TODAY can best describe the unfolding events due to the manner in which the former New National Party (NNP) government headed by Dr. Keith Mitchell decided to abruptly dump The Republic of China (ROC) on Taiwan in favour of diplomatic ties with Mainland China.
