The staging of Francis Urias Peters’ new play, “BELINDA” at the Spice Basket Theatre this weekend marks a significant milestone in the history of Theatre in Grenada.
It’s the first theatre production to be staged at the newly opened Spice Basket Theatre (on the big stage).
An extremely young and talented cast led by Agatha Alexis (“Miss B”), will be presenting the two hour Musical Romantic Folk Drama which features several folk and popular Grenadian & Caribbean songs and rhythms.
“BELINDA” is the first in a series of plays that Peters will be staging at the Spice Basket Theatre.
In November he restages one of his earlier plays, “A CASE OF INCEST” (a courtroom drama), and in March, 2012 the long awaited “REDEMPTION TIME”, set during the Gairy/PRG era will premiere at the same venue.
Peters says that he looks forward to the continued support from patrons and the Business Community and assures Grenadians that a cultural treat awaits them at Spice Basket this weekend.
A special matinee will be staged at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 15 where children will be charged half price.
The production continues on the same Saturday evening at 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday, October 16 at 6:00 p.m.
Another production, “HOW TO SPOT A KOONOOMOONOO”, by prominent Trinidadian playwright and director, Davlin Thomas, will run for four performances at Spice Basket from November 3.
