Policeman Accused of Raping School Girl

As the Royal Grenada Police Force grapple with an upsurge in sexual offenses on the island, the lawmen are forced to investigate a case of rape against one of their members.

 A 26-year old police officer from Rose Hill, St. Patrick's is accused of raping a 16 year-old student from the same address.

 A source close to the investigation team confided in The New Today Newspaper that on September 20, the school girl was at the accused man's home when he forced himself on her to have sexual intercourse.

 The source who does not wish to be identified said the police officer told the young lady he wanted to become intimate with her and proceeded to fondle her hands.

 According to the source, the accused man resorted to inserting his finger inside the young lady's private part before removing her clothes and forcefully having sexual intercourse with her.

 The source said the police officer is currently on suspension while investigation is continuing.

 This newspaper has learnt that the police hands are filled as they have to investigate a number of sexual offenses, many of which involve minors.

 At present, a St. Patrick's resident is facing three counts of defilement of a 14-year old student.

 Dave Alexander, a 35-year old labourer from Snell Hall is accused of having sex with the young student on three occassions.

 A high level source told this newspaper the St. Patrick's labourer allegedly committed the first illegal act against the student between December 1 and 31 last year, and continued with the practice in the months of April and August this year.

 In another incident a 19-year old student residing at Vendome, St. George's is facing a charge of defilement of a female.

 The New Today Newspaper learnt that on September 19, at about 9:00 p.m. Tyson Philbert met the 14-year old student who resides at Mt. Airy, St. George's at the St. George's Bus Terminus on Melville Street from where they both took a bus and went to his house at Vendome where they engaged in sexual intercourse.

 Meanwhile, police in St. Andrew's are investigating a case of rape against a 45-year old labourer of Plaissance. The labourer is accused of forcing himself upon his estranged wife.

 The New Today Newspaper has been reliably informed that the woman who is separated from her husband went to his home to collect her clothes and while in the process of packing her clothes, she claimed that her husband entered the bedroom and locked the door.

 The woman has accused the man of wrestling with her and in the process he removed her clothes and had sexual intercourse with her.

 A check made by this newspaper shows that more than 30 cases of sexual offenses have already been committed for the year.

 Further to that, the October Assizes commences next Tuesday and Crown Counsel in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions Howard Pinnock has confirmed to The New Today Newspaper that from a list of 115 cases, 32 are for sexual offenses.
