Grand Anse resident Brendan Briggs has entered a guilty plea of manslaughter for causing the death of the former leader of “The Bloods.” Keldon Kelly Simeon, alias “9-inch” died on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010 as a result of a single stab wound to the right side of his chest from a knife used by Briggs at the Sugar Mill round-a-bout.

The knife passed under the rib cage, grazed the lungs and went straight into the heart. Briggs who was originally charged with murder accepted a plea bargain on Monday by the State to accept liability for the lesser offense.

The incident between Briggs and the 31-year old Simeon from Grand Anse arose out of a dispute the convicted man had over the use of a car. Both men traveled in the car that was owned by Briggs, a bar attendant, to a shop in Belmont, St. George’s where Briggs was engaged in a game of pool.

On completing the game of pool, Briggs realised that his car was missing, but learnt that Simeon took it away. The convicted man later found his car at the Sugar Mill round-a-bout where he confronted Simeon who was still seated inside of the vehicle. Briggs is due to return to court on December 15 for sentencing.
