Police are looking for a Mont Toute man for questioning in connection with a near fatal stabbing incident at Grand Anse over the weekend in which two persons were left nursing injuries. Well-placed sources told THE NEW TODAY that the suspect is believed to have fled the area and gone into hiding in order to avoid the lawmen.
This newspaper understands that a group of men moved into a nightclub and bar close to the round-a-bout at the head of the Maurice Bishop Highway, held up an employee and demanded money. According to a source, one man who normally helps at the bar approached the men and asked what they were really up to but within minutes he was attacked from the back.
He said that one of the intruders stabbed the man on the side and delivered another stab wound near to the area of the neck. He also said that a female worker was also attacked by the intruders and received a cut in her face.
The injured man who is believed to be Guyanese by nationality was warded at the St. George’s General Hospital for the past week receiving treatment for the stab wounds. A source who spoke on condition he was not identified said the intruders might have been on the outside monitoring the activities at the business place on the night of the incident.
“I understand that the bar was doing good business that night, a lot of people had visited the place and bought drinks. So they would have seen that and decided to go and rob them. But they did not get any money from the bar”, he remarked.
Officers attached to the South St. George Police Station are leading the investigation into the stabbing incident.
Apart from the main suspect, this newspaper was told that three other men were allegedly involved on the attack on the Night Club & Bar.
