One of the country’s best-known prison inmates, Aldin “Ossie” Phillip has thrown himself at the mercy of the court.

Ossie who was facing two counts of robbery with violence, possession of a firearm and attempted murder entered a guilty plea, which was accepted by the Crown in his high court trial.

His case which first came up for trial on June 15, was later aborted due to a health situation at the Richmond Hill prison.

The matter came up before the Number One High Court last week and the prisoner decided to enter a guilty plea.

Presiding Judge, Madam Justice Clare Henry slapped a ten-year prison sentence on “Ossie” to run from the time he was placed on remand in 2009.

The police evidence is that Ossie was wearing a mask and armed with a gun, launched an attack at the home of the Antoine family at La Poterie, St. Andrew’s on February 23, 2009.

In the process, a member of the family, Reginald Charles was shot three times in the leg causing him to spend 15 days in hospital.

The evidence in the hands of State Prosecutors is that another family member, Meslyn Antoine had just returned home at about 10:45 p.m. from a shop the family operates, when she noticed three men enter the house, one of whom she identified as Ossie.

The convicted man accosted her inside of her bedroom, pleading with her to pass the money.

The armed robbers got away with EC $300.00 and US $2.00.
