Ballistics tests conducted in Barbados on a local firearm have led police in Grenada to lay additional charges on two suspects now held in custody at the Richmond Hill prison.
Poultry farmer, Alister Stanislaus of Mt. Parnassus, St. George’s, and his assistant Andy John of the same address have now been implicated in the January 16 robbery of the Bananas Night Club and the attack on popular promoter, Wayne “Waggy-T” Redhead on June 12.
A police insider who spoke to The New Today Newspaper on condition that he was not identified said both men have had a charge of robbery with violence slapped on them for the incident at the Banana’s Night Club in True Blue, St. George’s. At the time of the robbery, an intruder had made off with cash amounting to $30,406.60.
A surveillance camera on the compound had picked up the figure of a man moving into the area where the cash for the night was being held. Police have also laid an additional charge of robbery with violence on both men for the incident involving ‘Waggy-T’ and his wife Heather.
Stanislaus and John are accused of robbing the couple at gunpoint in the vicinity of their home at Mt. Nesbit, St. John’s, and taking away $1,900.00 in cash. Redhead and his wife had just arrived home from the first in a series of caravan-bingo held by the promoter at St. Patrick’s when a gunman attacked them.
An exchange of gunfire followed between “Waggy-T” and the man who then fled the area. When police detained Stanislaus and John, a weapon was found in the vehicle in which they were traveling. The weapon was sent to Barbados for testing and the conclusion was reached that it was the same gun that was used in the “Waggy-T” incident.
The two suspects on remand were first arrested and charged by the police on July 27 in connection with a string of robberies on the island, as well as a charge of harbouring a criminal and possession of a firearm and ammunition. Stanislaus and John are due back in court on December 7.
