Fish Vendor Wendell Pierre is facing a charge of handling a controlled drug.
Pierre, a 38-year old resident of River Road, St. George’s, is accused of handing over four parcels containing 186 grams of marijuana. The drugs were reportedly intended for two men from River Road who are inmates at the Richmond Hill Prison.
Pierre allegedly handed over the parcels to a prison officer on November 4 on Melville Street, St. George’s to hand over to the two inmates. The parcels also contained a packet of Bamboo cigarette paper, and two wrapped parcels with two cigarette lighters.
In recent times, the image of the prison has been tarnished with allegations of drug peddling taking place there. Earlier this year, a man was shot dead in the vicinity of the prison compound while he was on his way to make a drop off of cellphones and other items to an inmate there.
