Grand Anse resident, Brendon Briggs has to wait until the new year to know his sentence in connection with the stabbing to death of his fellow villager, Keldon Kelly Simeon.

Briggs who was originally charged by the police for the April 4, 2010 killing of Simeon, alias 9-inch pleaded guilty for manslaughter last month.

He was due to be sentenced by Madam Justice Clare Henry on Tuesday at High Court Number One, but it was deferred to January 12, 2012.

Defense Counsel Cajeton Hood disagreed with certain aspects of the facts that were presented by Legal Counsel in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Dionne Lawrence-Pivotte.

Hood said based on instructions he received from his client, a knife was not used in the killing.

However, since the case came to court the State has contended that Simeon who is the former leader of “The Bloods” was stabbed with a knife by Briggs while he was seated in a car at the Sugar Mill Roundabout in Grand Anse, St. George’s.

Both Hood and Lawrence-Pivotte told Justice Henry they were unable to agree on the facts of the case.

The incident between Briggs and the 31-year old Simeon from Grand Anse arose out of a dispute the convicted man had over the use of a car.
