A new era has dawn for the Beacon Insurance in Grenada with the unveiling of a new brand by Chairman of the Board of Directors, Trinidadian Gerald Hadeed and local Branch Manager, Molly Roberts.
The Branch Manager who addressed the ceremony told participants that due to the rebranding, Beacon Insurance is optimistic that it will become a greater force to be reckoned with in the local industry. Roberts said not being daunted by the current recession, Beacon Insurance has seen the need to operate more efficiently to meet the expectations of its clients and potential customers.
Stating that Beacon has recognized the importance of putting people at the core of its services, she said that in the process of refocusing, the company has witnessed increased client confidence in the local operations. “Quality, dependability and trustworthiness remain at the core of what we all do at Beacon. Evidence of this emphasis can be seen in our new corporate headquarters at the Maurice Bishop Highway,” she said.
The Board’s Chairman spoke of Beacon Insurance being a reputable company and that since being in Grenada 23 years ago, the company’s first major and only catastrophe came in 2004 with the onslaught of Hurricane Ivan. According to Hadeed, the unfortunate event gave Beacon Insurance a tremendous advantage in how it managed to settle its claims during that time.
Hadeed spoke of Beacon being the first insurance company to be in Grenada after the hurricane. The Board’s Chairman said Beacon settled the majority of its claims, which at the time amounted to $80 million. “The experience helped us in knowing what we had to do in the event of a catastrophe,” he remarked.
The importance of the rebranding was underscored by the company’s Deputy Chairman, Robert Mowser who said the new image was designed to honour past achievements and to ensure that Beacon evolves with the changing times.
He disclosed that the lighthouse, which has been maintained on the new logo, helps to create a stronger model representation of the Beacon. “We use this to inspire us in updating the image of the Beacon’s Lighthouse and the guidance that it provides,” Mowser said.
