The only student on the island to gain 14 Grade One Subjects in the 2011 CXC Exams now has his eyes set on undertaking a two-year course in Business at the T. A. Marryshow Community College (TAMCC).
Pavan Sean Ajay Mahbubani told THE NEW TODAY Newspaper that he will be doing all of the three Majors in Business, and Mathematics as well. According to the 16-year old student, he intends to use the next two years to ascertain his future goal. "After hopefully I have graduated from TAMCC I should have my goal set out before me," he said.
Mahbubani confessed that although he was not expecting to get 14 Grade One's, he was indeed happy over his success. "I was very glad that I got the 14 One's because I didn't expect it at all, so I was actually feeling very humbled that God gave me the opportunity and gave me the blessings," he said. The top CXC achiever spoke of having doubts about getting Grade One's in French, Chemistry and History.
However, he said all the work done with him by his parents and teachers from the primary level until now clearly paid off in the end. The successful Westmorland student gave an account of how he received the news of the CXC results since he was paying a holiday visit to Singapore.Mahbubani said at first he began receiving numerous notifications from one of the social media networks on the internet congratulating him but he was not aware what this was all about.
He stated that due to the time difference between Grenada and Singapore, those who were doing the postings began to sign off leaving him frustrated since he was unaware of the results. Mahbubani said that he even searched CXC's website but the results were not posted.
He said it was not until he established contact with the school's Principal, Victor Ashby, that his achievement was confirmed to him. The subjects that he wrote were French, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Mathematics, English A, English B, Information Technology, Accounts, Business, Office Administration, History, Geography, and Social Studies.
Mahbubani spoke of having a lot of faith in God, and trusted what both his parents and teachers told him as a student. "I've never done CXC before, so I had to rely on other people's experiences," he quipped. The successful CXC student has a strong message for those who will be sitting the exams next year.
He said time wasted cannot be regained, and urged them to always review their work at the end of the day.
